CHECK OUT OUR SUMMER CAMPS AND SUMMER CLASSES!!
At Premier Athletics Cheerleading we offer a recreational class that teaches the basics of cheer for those athletes who have never cheered before and want to learn the basic skills, or those athletes that want to perfect certain skills and knowledge.
We will focus on basic cheerleading skills, balance, coordination, endurance, flexibility, rhythm, strength, and tumbling.
Balance is vital for a team's overall success and safety, from high kicks to stunting balance is important. We will focus on balancing for periods of time through focus and coordination. Athletes will perform a variety of stunts that will focus on balance of the athlete and strength of the bases supporting the athlete.
Cheerleading also requires a great deal of coordination and must be practiced repeatedly to successfully complete a routine or performance. We will create several cheers, chants and dances for athletes to learn and practice being in sync with one another, and learn and perfect the different motions of cheer.
A high level of fitness is required to perform routines, stunts, and jumps. We will encourage conditioning to build strength and agility to prepare your athlete to support the weight of others, as well as there own through stunting and tumbling.
Cheerleading routines are quick and short paced and require a certain amount of exertion during that time. These routines involve concentrated and flexed uses of the body that can be fatiguing so it is important to maximize your body's physical activity. We will practice repetition of a small routines to enhance endurance.
Flexibility may be one of the most important skill's of cheerleading. It is essential to stretch well before practicing or performing. We will stretch and encourage flexibility through learning cheer jumps, flips, contort, and holding specific stunting positions.
Rhythm is encouraged to teach athletes to perform together in sync routines having the ability to follow music, cheers and chants. If even one cheerleader is out of beat with the music, routine, or cheer then the whole performance will be off. Individual and team rhythm is important to learn.
Tumbling requires a combination of technique, form, balance, strength, and courage to perform. This involves learning forward and backward rolls, back bends, back walkovers, back handsprings, cartwheels, round offs, and combination skills for example round off backhand springs.
